Valentine’s Day is coming up.  Fly, my pretties, fly!  Bring me the advertisers!  I shall clap them in irons and force them to stare at their own vomit-inducing cutesy-wootsy displays until they begin to bleed out of their eyes!  *Cackles*

  1. New banner! Whee!

    Comment by earthgirl — February 9, 2009 @ 3:24 pm

  2. Those of you who are inclined to draw conclusions about WoB’s future storylines based on the banners (you know who you are) would be advised not to do so in this case. Otherwise, you’ll be forced to conclude that Barbara is about to die, Marie and Rahim are long-lost twins, and Rahim will eventually end up in a relationship with Casey.

Is it sad that a) my mind already went there and b) I already figured all this out, before I even saw your note?

    Comment by earthgirl — February 10, 2009 @ 1:33 am

  3. It is sad but inevitable. That’s why I wrote the note.

  4. wobtalk, I would like to ask which demoniacally spherical mind did you come forth from?
May you been the love child of WoB and Kari?

  5. SunshineRain: Wobtalk is the entity that results when I forget to log out of my WordPress account before I post. If you like, you may regard it as the love child of me and WoB.

  6. Well that makes more sense now, for some reason I have always read what wobtalk wrote with a different “voice” then yours.

I forgot to comment on the last colour comic on Saturday, February 7, 2009. Is it just me or does it look like Casey is wiggling his butt on the 3rd last panel and Barbara is shocked by this act of gratuitous wiggling.

Incidentally the next colour comic will land on Valentine’s Day (the last time that happen was in 2004 and next will be in 2015), will you be doing anything extra extra special for that? Any hint, tips or wink on what might that be?

    Comment by SunshineRain — February 11, 2009 @ 12:57 am

  7. Alas, the next colour comic will not be landing on Valentine’s Day but instead on February 21. There may, however, be a bit of anti-schmoopsying in that particular strip. In the meantime, you’ll have to be content with the banner and its terrible, terrible pun.

  8. I am looking forward to the adventures of the Murder game this year. I hope there are a number of strips about it.

    Thanks as always Kari!

  9. This reminds me of the time I played a (different) murder game. A friend and I cowered together in relative safety, until she convinced me to be brave and venture into the basement. There she killed me and about six others, and won the game.

  10. Anti-schmoopsying? Oh no! Say it ain’t so Kem, say it ain’t so!!!!!

    Comment by Plantita — February 18, 2009 @ 11:34 pm

  11. So…why exactly is Frankie going out with Baldwin, again?

As for tacky commercial holiday guilt, bring on the anti-schmoopsying, say I. (Also, the leftover cut-price chocolates. Yum.)

    Comment by Shoebox — February 19, 2009 @ 12:23 am

  12. Kem? Who is this Kem that which you speak of? There’s no Kem here.

I am looking forward to seeing the colour comic THIS Saturday. Too bad we still have to go through the uncoloured Friday comic first.

    Comment by SunshineRain — February 19, 2009 @ 12:23 am

  13. Shoebox: Baldwin is studying Computer, I don’t think I need to remind everyone that people who study computer tend to be smart, handsome and charming individual. Wow, we posted at the same time.

  14. …Opposites attract? I dunno…I’ve known some pretty incompatible couples who drive each other completely freaking crazy but somehow still stay together. It’s just one of those things.

Nobody posts for five days…and then everybody posts at once. Figures.

Plants: You know that Anti-Schmoopsying is one of my missions in life. Down with Schmoopsies, I say.

  15. Unrelated to anything, but it would seem that another artist has undertaken efforts to draw bricks on the scale that you do, at least for a time. And does Doc McNinja have enhanced bones, or something? I’m pretty sure I read that if you punch people in the head, your hand comes out of it pretty badly. Must have drank a lot of milk as a kid.

    Comment by Erwaro — February 20, 2009 @ 5:44 pm

  16. Ah, yes…you’re right, Erwaro. However, the Dr. McNinja people are wiser than I am; they are drawing their bricks freehand instead of being completely insane and using a ruler. I used to draw bricks freehand years ago, but I always managed to get them crooked. Now I spend hours and hours measuring. Oh well.

  17. Is today’s strip an oblique snipe at the Anakin-Amidala “romantic dialogue” in Episode III?

    “zomg I luv u ani”
“nooo no no I luv u MOAR”

    Comment by hussein — February 21, 2009 @ 6:55 am

  18. Does everything always have to relate to Star Wars? (Okay, granted, the Valentine’s Day banner might give you that impression.)

No, hussein…I’m afraid I wasn’t thinking of Anakin and Amidala at all, though you’re right that Todd and his girlfriend are spouting Lucas-worthy dialogue.

    Comment by Kari — February 21, 2009 @ 2:01 pm

  19. Kem… perhaps you could create a generic brick background, and photoshop it into comics before you post them?

    Comment by earthgirl — February 22, 2009 @ 4:57 am

  20. Nah. I stubbornly refuse not to drive myself mad with bricks. Also, that would necessitate me working with layers. *Shudder*…

    Comment by Kari — February 22, 2009 @ 5:22 am

  21. Now, now. Layers are nothing to be afraid of. They are my bestest friends.

    Comment by earthgirl — February 23, 2009 @ 5:06 am

  22. You…don’t use layers?

    But…but…layers are awesome!

    Comment by hussein — February 23, 2009 @ 8:13 am

  23. Onions have layers. (And parfaits. Have you ever met a person, you say, “Let’s get some parfait,” they say, “Hell no, I don’t like no parfait”? Parfaits are delicious.)

    Comment by VA — February 23, 2009 @ 10:01 am

  24. VA: I would say “What on earth is parfait?” Then if I was near a computer I would google it. In fact if the conversation was online I would google first to avoid looking silly, and then say “I don’t believe I’ve ever had parfait before, but it sounds tasty”.

But layer cakes have layers, and they are awesome.

    Comment by megan — February 23, 2009 @ 9:37 pm

  25. I was, of course, referring to the Cathar clerics, who taste fantastic with chocolate sauce. 🙂

    I second the layer cakes.
