At the Moment…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari Maaren @ 7:39 pm

…the site is up.  Here’s what’s going on:

People had a meeting yesterday to discuss spending money on a new hard drive.  I believe the upshot of this meeting was that everybody agreed “more study was needed.”  Resnet Guy #1 tells me it may be “some time” before anything actually happens.

My heartfelt plea for some kind of temporary SOMETHING has prompted Resnet Guy #2 to restore the site.  It will crash again.  I shall report the crash.  Resnet Guy #2 will restore the site.  And so on, and so forth.

I apologise for the extremely annoying inconvenience.  Under the good points, I’m taking this opportunity of brief Site Viability to download ALL THE DAMN FILES from the server (until today, they were mostly entombed in a computer that had stopped working).  If everything goes completely to hell, I’ll find another host and pay for it my-bloody-self.

At any rate, your beloved alt-text has returned.  Hurrah.

  1. Hallelujah! Praise the Raccoon God that the alt-text is back.

  2. The alt-text told me that “My psyche is the devil” so logically speaking since psyche = devil and Casey ≈ devil, does that mean that psyche ≈ Casey?

  3. Yay for restored site! 🙂

  4. It is nice to have the site back, however temporarily. I made virtual puppy-dog eyes at the resnet guys until they restored it. We’ll see how long it sticks around before vanishing without a trace again.

I now leave you with Friday’s comic, which contains a cliffhanger. Please don’t kill me.

  5. Yay – good to see the site back. Good luck getting everything back in your own hands again before it crashes once more.

  6. Ah, what a relief! I went back as far as needed to catch up with all the ALT texts!

  7. Yay for restored site! I didn’t realise how much I had missed the alt-texts.

I now leave you with Friday’s comic, which contains a cliffhanger. Please don’t kill me.

Oh, you live for now…primarily because I’m so looking forward to Rahim’s righteous wrath. On the other hand, if this is just one more ‘Casey denies and runs’ arc, I will not be responsible for my actions. Just sayin’. 🙂

  8. the alt text of “wait for it” (extra vowels excluded for the sake of space) (actually, my explanation took more space than the original alt text) (and it gets even longer the more i explain myself) (ok, I’m done)

    try again

The alt text of “wait for it” makes me worry that this cliff hanger will take longer to resolve than I want it to, therefore I will be stuck on the edge of my seat for weeks while some unrelated drama with Frankie and Steve happens…

  10. I actually can’t write anything of substance here, lest I give something away. So…nice weather we’re havin’, eh?

  11. I have a 2×4 and I know how to use it! Luckily for you, I will be in the woods in the middle of nowhere with a camp of children and won’t be able to check the comic until next Friday. You have until then to resolve this to my satisfaction. Go! 😉

  12. It is not nice weather at all. It is too hot, and I am not the only person to say so. Granted, the other person is from the coast, where it rarely exceeds 70 degrees F, but still. Too hot, and I was too lazy to locate flypaper in the store. It is completely cloudless, and yet it steadfastly refuses to cool down at night. Hot days are miserable but tolerable. Hot nights require stabbing things, and yet it is far too hot to exert the effort of stabbing things. I petition that my work uniform be changed to a wet towel.

  13. Again — I KNEW IT!!! My theory was Casey was doing it to make Marie think she was mad, so that she would finally seek help, one way or another.

    Comment by earthgirl — July 20, 2009 @ 2:43 pm

  14. Earthgirl: I’m not so sure. Seems like he could’ve done a lot more effective job of making Marie crazy if he’d just continued to smile sweetly and deny everything as per usual:
“Oh, no, Marie, you must’ve been dreaming. What? No, sorry, still don’t remember that. Oh, Marie, I’m so sorry you’re still confused about this – maybe you should be getting some help…” Etc.
The ‘destroying his reputation bit’ actually gave her good reason to believe it all was his problem. Especially with Rahim & Barbara backing her up.

That said, however…I fully admit I have no better explanation. This is of course assuming we’re going to get an explanation. Casey’s entirely capable of announcing “Can’t stay out here, gotta go feed the pet mouse,” and vanishing back into his room.

  15. I only have one question: Where is the cake?

By the way, I believe that Casey has a pet snake and not a pet mouse (and no, snake here is not a euphemism for anything), one comic recall that he wanted the dead mouse to feed his snake, which supposedly miraculously “revived”.

    Comment by SunshineRain — July 21, 2009 @ 10:40 am

  16. The cake is a lie.

    (Somebody had to say it.)

The site is down again. I am hoping Computer Guys will bring it up soon.

  17. I didn’t think he tried to make her mad so that she would seek help. I read it as he felt she was getting too close to him (all this started after the kiss) and wanted her to get angry at him to push her away. There was a previous comic where rahim said he was too old for her and was not pursuing things for her own good, an Casey said something along the same lines. (don’t have time to look up the comic now)

He went off to help her on July 18th because even though he was trying to push her away (for her own good?) he still cared about her. Maybe he realised that all the pain he had caused might make her july 18th breakdown worse.

So the question is- why did he have to push her away. (or feel like he had to push her away). Is he older than Rahim? Is he Satan? What deep dark secret is he hiding?

    Comment by Rin — July 21, 2009 @ 5:42 pm

  18. He IS satan – haven’t you been listening to Barbara?
