March 19 – 31, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kari Maaren @ 1:12 am

By the time this fortnight is over, I’ll (probably) know the results of two literary contests I’m in (or the results of one and the second-round results of the other).  I’ll also need to have written several course modules and marked at least fifty essays.  What fun this fortnight is going to be.  Have some nice Sherlockian shenanigans.

  1. I never did like or really understand that bit about “extraneous details”. I’m pretty sure that the human mind doesn’t work like that, and you never know when some detail you overlooked will turn out to be essential.

On the other hand, I tend to be like that, myself. My mind tends not to remember anything that it doesn’t feel will contribute to my understanding of the world. Trivial things like names, and what date it is today, and where are my keys.

  2. *hands you a box of chocolate to help with the marking*
Talking about essays what happened to your ‘merciless’ site? You haven’t updated that in ages! Do you plan to return to that at some point?

  3. Nuttycat: probably. I’ve actually started a few posts there and then not finished them. Eventually, I’ll go back and complete one. I’m just a bit overwhelmed by actual marking at the moment.

  5. Yes. Yes, it is. It is just very, very, VERY hard to see.

  6. Oh yay! Thank you 🙂
Congratulations on making it to the finals of that content. Would it be possible for us to read your story? I’d definitely like to read it.

  7. Hello, kitty. Well, I’m going to try to send the story out to various magazines now, and editors aren’t generally very happy if the story you’re pitching is already available online. I’ll see if anybody bites; if nobody does, I may show the story to people.

  13. I enjoy Star Wars, yes. Barbara does occasionally sense a great…something…in the Force. Last time, it was hypocrisy.
