#VoteGeek: Geeky Initiative for CBC Music Searchlight Contest

Okay…so we geeky Searchlight entrants have got our act together.  All the stuff I said in the last post is still true, but now…there’s more.

If you click on the huge yellow icon, you’ll be taken to a page that will provide links to all five geeky Canadian songs our little group of geeky bands (and me as the one soloist) has stuck in the CBC “let’s find Canada’s next great musical act” contest.  Our intent, again, is not to win; it is to make people notice us, even if Errol (of the band Debs and Errol) has to stalk everyone at CBC in the process.  He’s made a good start.

The linked page will also tell you about the sub-contest we’re running.  Basically, if you vote for us and then share this fact on social media via the hashtag #VoteGeek, you will be entered to win exciting prizes (i.e., our music).

Due mostly to Errol’s inability not to fling himself headlong into everything he does, we have already been mentioned on Google+ by CBC Music and promoted by the sites Pop Mythology and Geek Hard.  We are attracting tens of voters!  Tens!

One amusing side effect of us not playing to win is that we have basically become the class clowns, or perhaps the court jesters, of the contest.  It is possible that some of the more serious bands are unhappy with us.  Ah well.  We have a hard time being serious, especially when Errol is going around posting images like this:

Sad Doctor VoteGeek

Live long, and thanks for all the fish.  Wait…that’s not right.
